Ewe Alphabet

The Ewe alphabet is the foundation of reading and writing in the Ewe language. It consists of 30 letters: 23 consonants and 7 vowels, each representing unique sounds used in spoken Ewe. Some letters, such as ŋ, Ƒ, Ɖ, Ɣ, and ʋ, are special letters with hooks or tails that represent sounds not found in English.

Understanding these letters and their forms—uppercase, lowercase, and how they are pronounced—is the first step to mastering Ewe literacy. This guide presents all the consonants and vowels in a clear, easy-to-read format, helping learners recognize and use each letter correctly.
