Right to Information (RTI)

Article 21 (1) (f) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana guarantees the right of all persons to access information, subject to conditions necessary in a democratic society. In furtherance of this provision, Parliament enacted the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), which was assented to on 21 May 2019 by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The RTI Act seeks to promote transparency and accountability in public institutions through public access to information. In compliance with this law, the Ho Municipal Assembly has established a Right to Information Unit at its premises. The unit is headed by Mr. Kelvin Abotsi, who serves as the Right to Information Officer, in accordance with Section 3 (3) (b) of the Act.

Persons seeking information from the Assembly are required to complete an RTI Application Form and submit it together with a copy of a Ghana Card. Applications may be submitted in person at the HMA RTI Office or electronically.
